My dad just tried to update the software on our Ioniq, and it was a total disaster! He followed all of Hyundai's instructions, but the update failed. Now he can't access his maps or multimedia.

I've seen some information about using engineering mode, but that seems to be for European versions.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and do you think contacting Hyundai directly would be helpful?

Oh man, I totally had a similar headache not too long ago! Turns out, my micro SD card with adapter was the real troublemaker. After grabbing a new full-size SD card and giving the update another shot, everything went off without a hitch! Update completed!

Software update failures can happen, even when you follow the instructions perfectly. A soft reset or even re-downloading the update file onto a fresh USB might help. Engineering mode is usually region-specific, so it might not be your best bet. Hyundai support should be able to help you with this annoying stuff, especially since this issue is tied to their update process.

This sounds like an SD card issue. @GeorgeMiami is right
