Just started a long trip in my brand new I5 and I'm already having some troubles. Everything seemed fine at first, but noticed the car acting weird on cruise control yesterday. Today, it seems like the rear motor completely crapped out after driving for about 30 minutes at 65 mph! Even after charging multiple times. Had to switch to SNOW mode just to avoid the car jerking around. Anyone else come across this issue?

Are you using a fast charger? If yes, then maybe you're a high voltage that could cause the motor to overheat.

Hey, I am curious, have you found the cause for this issue?

S mode should keep both motors running, right? It seems like the back motor might be overheating or something, because it's losing power around 70 mph.

Maybe the temp sensor for the motor is broken and giving bad readings. You should use your OBD2 reader to check the motor temps and see if anything looks weird. If it's still doing it, you'll probably have to take it to the dealer.

I haven't heard of this happening before, and the only problems I've seen with this car have been with the battery.
