I've seen tons of stories about Ioniqs suddenly speeding up on their own, and it seems like everyone doesn't believe it. I'm really curious to know what you guys think about what happened to me.
My 2018 Ioniq was recalled for this same problem, and then two weeks after they fixed it, boom! I'm trying to park, and the car just shoots backwards! It only went a few feet, but it was terrifying! And I wasn't even touching the gas pedal, I swear! I had no time to react, and I ended up hitting another car. Both cars got pretty banged up.
So, I contacted my dealer to figure out what happened, and they basically gave me the runaround for months. I got zero info, no help, and it felt like they were trying to avoid me. I had to keep bugging them, and all they'd say was "we're working on it."
I had to fix the car myself with my insurance.
Finally, last May, they asked to look at the car's black box. They did that in July, and then I called my guy in February to see what they found, but his number was disconnected! I had no idea who to talk to at Hyundai, so I wrote a letter to the CEO. I doubt he even read it, but I got a reply saying I'd hear back in August. It's been ages, and I haven't heard a word.
It's been a year now, and Hyundai hasn't given me any real answers. I'm not even saying it was their fault, I just want them to look at the black box data. Why are they making this so hard?
