Ioniq 38 kwh battery decreasing?

Tried solar charging on my 2021 Ioniq with the Zappi charger in eco+ mode. Started at 90% battery, added 5.3kWh over 2 hours at 2.5kW. Expected 15% increase to 40kWh, but ended up at 86% after I checked it the next day. Any insights about this?

Is it freezing out there? When it's super chilly, it might take around 30 minutes and use some extra energy to get all warmed up to a comfy 68 degrees. Imagine it like pre-heating your car before you hop in on a frosty morning. Quick charging in winter might not be as efficient. Some of that energy goes towards keeping your battery warm, kind of like how starting your car uses more gas when it's cold. The temp plays a major role on this one.

I also noticed when I used my granny charger in winter that the charging rates seemed off. I really expected a bigger boost, but sometimes the readings can be tricky. It’s possible that the charger was cycling on and off, which could explain why you didn’t see the increase you were expecting. Have you checked if the Zappi is accurately reporting the power during those on/off cycles? It might help clarify what’s happening with your charging.

The heater shouldn't have turned on unless the car was charging fast. It's strange that the battery lost some charge. Maybe it was cold outside.
