Hyundai Ioniq SEL Android Auto connection issues

I'm having trouble connecting my Android phone to Android Auto on my Hyundai Ionic SEL. My son's iPhone connects to Apple CarPlay just fine, so I know the USB port and system are working. But when I plug in my Android phone, the Android Auto button on the screen is grayed out.

Anyone else have this problem or know a solution?

All I had to do was flip on USB Debugging in the Developer Options. Go to Settings - System - Advanced - Developer Options - USB Debugging. That did the trick for me with my old phone.

It also depends on which type of USB cable you're using. Are you using the original cable?
