I’ve noticed a quirky thing with my Ioniq 5 Limited (U.S. version) when I charge overnight. Usually, I plug it into my Level 2 charger, set it to 80%, and unplug it before bed if I'm still up. But on nights when I leave it plugged in, I’ll wake up to multiple notifications showing that it’s topped itself off a few times. It’ll hit 80%, stop, and then at random times, it’ll kick back on for a minute or two and stop again at 80%. This can happen 2-4 times a night.

Anyone have an idea why this happens? Is the battery just dipping ever so slightly and re-triggering the charge, or is there something else at play? I’m also curious if there's any way to prevent it. It’s not a huge deal, but I’d love to understand what’s going on here.

And just to add, after it charges to 80%, it’ll sometimes display as 79% when I power on. I’m guessing that’s just rounding down, but I’m open to any insights if you’ve noticed the same!

When I set my charging limit to 80%, it occasionally recharges during the night too. I think it's just the battery management system keeping the charge balanced, especially with temperature changes or minor dips in voltage.

I found it helps to monitor the settings in the app for any options related to battery management that might adjust this behavior. The percentage display can be a bit misleading too; it sometimes rounds down, so your 79% reading after charging to 80% isn’t unusual. It sounds like you’re doing everything right
