According to the manual, it's recommended to change it every 25k miles. For the clicking sound, try visually checking your cabin filter if something is stuck on it. Also check the fan underneath it if something is obstructing it. Maybe that's the one making the sound. It's all in the owner's...

Lol i encountered the same issue recently, only to discover that my auto hold feature was left on. After reaching out to my local dealership, they confirmed that it was indeed related to the auto hold feature. You can also find it outlined in the owner's manual for reference....
